electrical interface of parallel port?

Hallo,
where can I find information about the electrical interface of the parallel port?(e.g. the maximal current consumption)
Furthermore I would like to know by which devices it is controlled and where these devices are located in the architecture. Is it right that the parallel port controller is part of the chipset?
My Chipset at least is the Intel 440BX PII4e. How do I do I proceed to achieve further informations?
