I am looking to buy a new motherboard processor combo, but i am wondering if i would be better off getting a faster processor and cheaper motherboard or a slower processor and more expensive motherboard? what do you guys suggest?

At the speed that things are changing in technology, I recommend getting the best processor/mobo combo you can afford right now. By the time you have outgrown it things will have changed quite a bit.

If you don't have the bucks for both, I would go with a really good upgradeable motherboard and upgrade the CPU when you can afford it. Since things are changing so fast, it will be outmoded pretty quick anyway, but it is easier to upgrade the CPU than the whole mobo...

I agree with Budfred - the mobo is far too important to be a cheap part. Of course, the way prices are these days, it might be cheaper than you thought.
Good quality mobo, $90-120
Average CPU, $90-250

I argeed with all the responses. Get a good quality mobo that will allow future CPU upgrade and an average cpu.
AMD average cpu=2500+
Intel average cpu=p4 2.4C
