Please help.
I loaded WIN98 on my son's system and now it has no sound. In system device it is listed with no drivers for PCI Card and PCI Multimedia Audio Device. It will also not let me load any PC games onto the system, it says that I do not have permission and to check with the administrator.
Please tell me where I can find these drivers.
Thanks

Have you installed the motherboard drivers?

We need to know the make of the mobo?
You can do this by down loading and running Belarc Advicer (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) or by opening your case and looking for a model/make number on the board, then post back.

When checking my DEVICE MANAGER, I have the following listed under OTHER DEVICES with a yellow question mark:
PCI Input Controller
PCI Multimedia Audio Device
The computer is a DELL PIII, 500mhz, Dimension L500r, running WINme. I believe that I need the sound card, but can't find the correct one. According to Belarc, the motherboard is an Intel CA810E, specifically, CA810E AAA01025-305. I found an Audio driver on the Intel website:
412011186.exe, but for some reason while trying to download, I keep getting a message that I cannot download this file?
Thanks...
Hmmmm...
I could not find that audio driver on the Intel site for the CA810E MB, but was able to find other audio drivers.
Unfortunately, they are not compatible with Win ME:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=All&strTypes=BIO%2CDRV%2CARC%2CUTL&ProductID=202&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&submit=Go%21
Did you try looking around the Dell site?

I finally found what I needed (I think), I just haven't tried it yet. I found the make and model of the sound card, Creative CT4780, and was able to find something from the Creative website. Although finding one that works with Winme took a little time.
Thanks for the help though...
