Upon startup, all fans start spinning, until I enter windows, then the cpu fans shuts down. Does anyone have any idea why it does this and how to remedy it? I checked the cpu-fans cable and it sits secure.
thx for any advice,

little update by me:
I use an msi 865PE Neo2 mobo, the kind that comes supplies with their so called "care center" that lets you monitor and adjust fan speeds, temperatures etc. I have uninstalled the core center and now the cpu fan keeps spinning. My best gues is that the heat sensor used by the core center is somehow transmitting an incorrect signal, but how do I find this sensor and when I find it: what do I do about it?
Any suggestions welcome, I'll just keep tinkering away in the mean while ;)

Abbadon,
I'm not familiar with that particular software but there are usually high and low temp. settings for when the fans kick in. If the low setting for CPU temp. is set to high, it could cause the situation you describe. Might be worth checking out.

Mite be worth getting a fan that you can run off the power supply unit (with 4 pin connector) instead of mobo, that way the fan spins constant.

Here's the ticket: there is a function in the core center that lets you decide wether to manualy control the cpu fan or wether to set it on auto. Strangly, when set on auto it just switches of, but with manual, I got it running. I can even decide at what speed to run it! Yeah!
Now, can some-f*ck*ng-body at MSI pop me a mail explaining WHY this feature is hidden? I mean, there might be like, A BUTTON somewhere in the core center displaying something like "CPU FAN CONTROL". Strangely, this is not the case, the cpu-fan-control options are found by moving your mous around randomly until you see the cursos change indicating a clickable word/object/coordinate. (btw: more options are hidden like this)
Sorry 'bout the ranting people, had to let of the steam...
"sigh"
hopefully this was the last "glitch" in the new system. Gonna go sleep now...
Greetz & have fun!

Yes, but then you have to set the BIOS to ignore the CPU fan speed or the computer will think the CPU has no fan and is in danger of overheating. Then it shuts down. Not the desired effect. :p
EDIT - Doh! You responded before me!
