Hi, I've got a can't boot situation. I've read many of the other similar threads, and tried quite a few things, and I'm hoping it's a matter of the cpu jumper settings.

Here's the scoop. I have two identical EPOX EP-3VCA boards that are Socket370 type. I also have several boxed Celeron 600's and I've opened one box and have tried it on both boards. The thing is, that the manual doesn't have this CPU in the jumper setup, so I went online, searched around, and came up with 75 for the clock jumper, and 8x for the multipler, which is a slight overclocking. I think it should be 66 and 9x, but there isn't a provision for a 9x setting on the switch block. Here's the website for the board: http://web.epox.com/html/motherboard.asp?product=EP-3VCA&lang=1

On both boards I have done the barebones setup with known good parts including the power supply, cleared the CMOS and tested the battery, used different speeds of memory, and used three types of video cards (AGP, PCI, and ISA) but still no video or beeps. The CPU fan powers up, as does the hard drive when it's connected.

Is it possible that the CPU jumper configuration has anything to do with this? I could install another CPU, but I'd rather not open another box until I know that the jumpers are set right. I find it curious that both boards are acting exactly the same way, but I also don't have any history of these mutha-boards, which I bought used several months ago.

Here's one more tip. The first board that I put the CPU into is called an Anaheim2, which came from an eMachines computer. It booted up just fine, but after about 45 minutes it started power cycling repeatedly. That's when I pulled the cpu and tried it on the 3VCA. Is this a sign of a bad CPU?

Thanks in advance,

brad

The online manual for that MB lists two jumper arrangements for a 600 MHz CPU:
-100MHz FSB and a 6X multiplier(for PC100 SDRAM)
-133MHz FSB and a 4.5 multiplier(for PC133 SDRAM)
