I have windows xp, whenever i boot up my computer a blue screen pops up and says checking drive d for consistancy and file structure file type is Fat32 and then it takes about an hour to check. Ive tried running system restore before the problem started but its still the same. Please help
You may have to repartition and reformat the HD, and do a clean Windows XP installation to resolve the problem:

If that does not work, then the HD may be bad.

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
You might want to start with a hard drive test since that will not require reformatting first. Go to the website of the hard drive maker and download their diagnostic software. Run it from a floppy per their instructions and test the drive. If it is ok, you may need to proceed with the ski's suggestion. If it is not ok, try to back up your files and either determine if you still have warranty coverage or go shopping.

It would probably still be a good idea to run the diagnostics, your drive could be coasting toward a complete failure and if you are not prepared, you could end up quite distressed...
