What is Wuauboot?

Frequently while surfing I'll get the message:

Wuauboot has caused an error in <unknown>
Wuauboot will now close.

It doesn't seem to affect anything. Just happens a lot. What's happening and should I be concerned?

Apparently that is a problem with Windows Update. Try the MS Knowledge Base for ideas about how to fix it...

Norton Anti-virus Live Update is apparently a common culprit in interfering with Windows Update...although, it could be another program...

"The quick fix is to disable Windows Update in the Control Panel, and then run it manually.

To start Windows Update manually, start Internet Explorer, then click Tools, then Windows Update. You might still need to disable Norton Live Update before proceeding, then turn it back on when Windows Update is complete."
