Monitor problem

Help, I have a ATI aiw 8500 installed. Dvd and media player worked fine until today, my screen is there but very dark. Even on boot up I can hardly see the windows logo. Dvd's and tv on the monitor are playing but very dark also. The only thing I've done was partition a new hard drive and format it for an external case.

Try the controls on the monitor itself to make sure that it didn't just lose its contrast/brightness settings. Also, check for any electronic equipment nearby that could be interfering, like the external drive your referred to...

And, if you've another computer that you could hook the monitor up to, that might help to eliminate whether it's the monitor itself or the vid card...
