I have an K6-2 400 128mb, 2 HD's, a 4gb & 10GB, 4mb video running win98se. Problem began
when various apps just kept crashing formatted the 4gb which had c: primary and proceeded to
run win98se setup. During install system crashed again. At first I was thinking CPU/HD failure,
possible due to overheating but after examining mb and CPU both look OK now Im thinking HD
failure. I would now like to load OS on my one of the 5gb part. currently d: e: Do I need to move
this HD to controller 1 or can I leave it on IDE2 then fdisk and format my E: partition thus
creating a primary/active c: partition. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!

By default your Boot disk is primary master drive.
Unless your bios allows you to assign the boot to another drive in the chain,

The best way is to put your Boot drive on IDE Channel 1
As the master ( change the jumpers on the back of the drive)

Run Fdisk and Mark the first partition active .
This will allow you to use the dos partition as the new c drive.

I you Like you can make the needed hardware settings changes and run Fdisk and format to get a clean start.
