What does the ambiguous term "life time wattanty" mean exactly?
For how much duration?

Besides, what is the difference between warranty and guarenty?

Thanx.

Those are very interesting terms, aren't they? :p

They actually mean different things for different products & manufacturers. You'll have to look at the fine print on a case-by-case basis, unfortunately.

This is my interpretation of this ambigous statement.

In the case of software this NORMALLY means the duration of time that the software version is the "Latest" version. You buy version 5 and 3 months later version 6 is released then the "Lifetime" garrentee of version five has now expired.

In the case of hardware this is the "Projected" life of the item (as seen by the manufacturers)

if you are talking the lifetime of a product then once it 'dies' its lifetime is up, so they garantee it, until it fails, but then having failed (died) its out of warranty.
