Hello:
What are the steps to take in order to change the location of the swapfile and temp directories in Windows 2000 Professional. Both reside on seperate logical drives.
I've done this in other flavors of Windows but not W2K. Thanks for your help.

Virtual Memory or the old Win9x Swap File is known as the Paging File in Win2K. Unlike the swap file, it can be kept on one partition or split onto many partitions.
RClick My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced >> Performance Settings >> Advanced >> Virtual Memory and click on Change.
Then set the values as you want them and reboot. Check that the changes have stuck (they don't always, particularly if you make a number of changes simultaneously.
Not sure about moving the location of the temporary folders. RDrag and choosing Move should work OK but may not stick in the Registry.

Found the Temp References
Machine and User specified variables (eg Temp and Tmp) can be configured at:-
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced-tab -> Environment Variables Button
They can also be accessed through the registry:-
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
and
HKCU\Environment
Note: %SystemRoot% refers to the directory where windows is installed (ie the WinNT dirctory, by default, in Win2K).
