I have been using a MSI 6337 (815EP Pro Chipset) Motherboard with a P-III CPU and an ATX power supply for quite a few days. I also have an UPS.Recently I shifted my residense. On plugging in the UPS and the PC I switched in on. The SMPS Fan and the CPU fan started rotating and suddenly stopped. I retried several times and every time the same thing happened. The on board diagnostic LEDs are also lighting-up before the SMPS turns the whole thing off even before the first beep or video. On touching the cabinet lightly a mild electric shock is felt. Is the problem arising due to some electrical short circuit? I hope my motherboard and CPU is not burnt out? CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE.:-(

Also you can try to reseat all the cards and devices in the machine, checking out the outlet you have plugged into may not be a bad idea either.

Sorry, I could not answer immediately as I am accessing the Net from a friend's PC. Thanks for your suggestion but the solution did not help. The same responses were noted.

You ever used an Ohm or Volt meter or multi-meter what ever any one wants to call it? either somthing isn't grounded properly or you have a dead short.Do Not switch the unit back on until you check for shorts you may have or maynot have fried it by now.does not matter how long you take to post back were not going any where.some others will probobly jump in and help so stck around.

Just boot with your video card, and no other cards, you might have a irq conflict preventing your cpu to boot.

Thank you. It has worked. I worked on your theme " Something isn't grounded properly" and checked the ground connection from the point where it entered my house. It was severed at one point. Re-establishing the connection solved the problem. Lucky me that nothing is fried! Thanks to all of you who have helped me through this problem. Thanks to PC Guide too for providing this forum where we can discuss our problem and find helpful hands. I'll be around also to help somebody in need. See you. :-)
