Black screen during XP reinstall..?

just noticed that at various points durinf my reinstall of XP that the screen was going black and a couple times had a flashin white cursor in the upper left corner. A couple times was just black with no cursor. Is this normal? I have loaded XP a few other times before on different machines and never noticed this. Of course i usually left the room instead of just sitting and waiting. Tha blackout occured during the initiaze devices phase of the install i believe. thank you.

I don't remember WinXP specifically doing that, but Windoze installs usually seem to do that during loading...
