A friend brought round a graphics card he was having probs with (only get a flashing green light on monitor) to try in my spare system and now ive got the same prob.

Things tried,

2 good graphics cards, still got flashing green monitor light.
hooking up system to main monitor, still got flash green light.
hooking up spare monitor to main system, monitor ok.
mobo gets power as does graphics card (fan spins) but no display.

So im thinking the AGP slot as a problem with it.

Look at the contacts in the AGP slot. I had a MB with 2 bad contacts...they were easily seen. Do you get any beeps?Do you have a PCI card that you can try?

hooking up spare monitor to main system, monitor ok.

Do you mean that the system worked ok with your friend's video card installed, and the spare monitor connected?

Also, if he had problems with the video card, and then your system had the same problem with the same card, then I would suspect that the card is defective.

Thanks guys,

It now works ok, no problems.

Friend wanted to be sure card was the problem before spending money on new card.

No the spare monitor worked on my main system without friends card.
