Hello, First of all thanks to anyone who replies to this, it would be a big help. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Second... heres my problem!!
http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Every time i try and use my scanner (Astra 1220P) a message on a blue screen comes up saying A fatal exception 06 has occoured at 0000:00001046(althhough the last 4 digits change to numbers such as 2033) I have tried un/reinstall the program and scanner several times and tried deleting the special .dll files (twain, twain32, twain_32)and the folders of the same names before installation and so on but with no sucess. (the FAQ's at the umax support site said to do this)

Thank u very much for your time in reading this

Have you downloaded the latest drivers ?
After you install the software and scanner does it appear in device manager correctly?

I have also found a few units that Require the drivers to be installed Before the scanner is attached did you follow the install and setup directions?

If there is an update to the scanner Program I would also use that and not the one that came with the unit

The best place is at the scanner manufacturers web site.
Search for an update to your scanner .
If you find it Just download it.
Read any doc’s that explain how to install the updates. ( Some require uninstalling the old drivers)

After you install any updates Reboot your system with the power to the scanner on.
Allow the system to update and test the unit.
