View Full Version : EAccessViolation Error

I'm not sure where I should post this question as I'm not sure what type of problem I am having. So, because the error has occurred during the recent uninstall and re-install of the game "Neverwinter Nights - Shadow of the Unrentide", I thought I'd post it here...
My game was running fine until I recently downloaded the latest patch. Then, the game started to minimize itself about every 5 minutes or so of game play. (This does not occur with any other game.) I decided to try and fix the problem by uninstalling and re-installing the game, but to my dismay, after reinstallation I get an error message stating "EAccessViolation" and cannot access the disk. Frustrating to say the least.
What is an "EAccessViolation" and is there a way to repair it? Also, could it be that my CD-ROM is starting to go? It runs very loudly and seems to have trouble with only this disk.:confused
Thanks so much for the help.

Also, could it be that my CD-ROM is starting to go? It runs very loudly and seems to have trouble with only this disk. There's the problem right there. It could be that your CD drive needs to be replaced, or that the game CD itself is too scratched to read. Check the disk first and see if you can repair it or swap the game at the store you bought it from.

Thanks for the reply but the problem seems to be that I didn't completely uninstall the entire game before I re-installed it. Contacted the game site and asked what to do about the problem and they suggested I completely uninstall and then do the reinstall. Now the game is running perfectly. Thanks again for the reply.;)

You need to make sure you remove all items that relate to the game. You must completely uninstall NWN and all of its expansions - and then make sure you remove all references to them on your pc - all files, folders, etc. Then reinstall the main game and all the expansions - in the right order - and you shouldn't have any problems any longer. Hope this helps.

My wife and I went to the Marriot hotel and tried to access the internet from her laptop using a communication box in the hotel room. The laptop doesn't have a phone jack so I had to install STSN software from a CD so I could use a USB connection. I couldn't get it to work. Then when I got home and tried to access the internet using her Wireless B Notebook Adapter I got this eaccessviolation from it. The posts from varissul and Jonvin to the expansys.no forum to which I haven't figured out how to post told me what the problem was and how to fix it. The problem was the Wireless B Notebook Adapter program was trying to access a file that was no longer there. To fix it I had to delete the program from her Startup, uninstall the program, uninstall Zonealarm, and reboot the laptop. Then I could reinstall the Wireless B Notebook Adapter.

This is an old thread. The original problem has been resolved. Let it rest in peace...
