The worldwide release of office 2003 on Tuesday.
This is not a straightforward choice,based on what you currently do with the world's widely used piece of consumer software. It is dictated by the operating system that now runs your PC. For those still happily using Win 9x or Me, its bad news: the new version is not supported on their machines.
It seems that only outlook has been substantially improved with some important anti-spam features to help filter out junk mail and the ability to organize received mail into virtual folders. But the other three core tools are largely unchanged except for a few bells and whistles.
The washington post yesterday said it best: "the best reason not to buy Microsoft office is Microsoft office.The suite so thoroughly dominates the market that it has become its own toughest competitor. With so many features jammed into earlier versions, why bother to upgrade?"
