If you're familiar with NT User Manager for Domains, then you know about the User cannot change password check box. But what happens when this box is cleared and the user still cannot change his/her password?

I have a mixed Novell and NT network. Novell passwords must be changed every 60 days. Most users are able to synchronize their Novell and NT passwords at the time of the change, but about 20% receive an error message that they do not have permission to change their NT password. The natural result of this is that the user ends up with 2 different login passwords because their change was successful on the Novell side. I have to change their NT password at the server to match their Novell password. What a pain:mad: .

The only help I can find on the Technet said to change the policy that requires users to "log on in order to change password," but that had no effect whatsoever. What am I missing here??

The only way I remember this kind of thing happening was when the user was defaulting to a machine account instead of a domain login.

The context of the change password box refers to the machine instead of the domain. I do remember this being a hassle when I supported dual client networks, but don't remember all the differing reasons it could happen. (cached profiles?)
