hey folks, this one's pretty weird, to me at least.
first the specs:
1.33 athlon, 266fsb
a7m-266 +512mb crucial ddr
western digital 20gb
ibm 20gb
audigy platinum
elsa gladiac gts2
pioneer dvd slot drive
ricoh mp7060a cd burner
pinnacle studio tv
win98se
alright, after i put this machine together, it worked fine for a while. then, sporadically, the boot up would just hang with a black screen and a blinking underscore line in the upper left. HOWEVER, after ctrl alt deleting, the windows menu comes up as usual, and then if i select #2 "logged (bootlog.txt)" the computer boots fine. if i had selected "normal", then it hangs again with the blinking underscore.
you see, i am a+ certified and have troubleshooted a number of computers for about 2 years now, and yet i do not see anything obviously wrong with the software, os, or the hardware. and it's not like it hangs on every boot, sometimes it just boots fine. what bugs me the most is that there's no pattern to it, it just seems random.
anybody ever see this before? what did you do? any help out there, please?
