Anything seem different?

Those of you who are paying attention may notice a new ad banner at the top of the forums.. you may also notice that the forums are much faster now than they were yesterday. These events are not unrelated. ;)

pair Networks is one of the oldest and very best hosting sites around. I have had The PC Guide here with pair since it started, over 6 years ago.

The old server was getting very bogged down, and most of that was due to forum traffic. Pair has graciously agreed to sponsor the PC Guide forums by way of a hardware upgrade. This should keep the forums snappy and also reduce the impact of bots on the site.

So.. if you are in the market for a hosting company, please give pair strong consideration!

Hope all is well.
I hate to tell you this but yes the site loads quicker but the right side of the front page never loads [at least for me]. I can get right on the boards but your title page of welcome to pc guides never comes up.
I am sure it's me, but thought I should let you know

Mark: thanks for telling me. I just checked and the right side pages DO load.. but very slowly. Even though other pages are fast. This must have something to do with the server. I'll take it up with pair in the morning. Thanks again. --c

I'm glad to see you worked out a good deal there...:)

I found a problem with the right side thing too, but not on usual pages. I have a 17" LCD, so I have a lot of screen space, but when I opened up a page on a members list of posts, it ran off the page on the right. I am not sure if this is the same thing you are talking about, but it is the first time it has happened, so I thought it might be related...

Edit:

I have encountered a couple of pages now that won't load and tell me that I am trying to access a page that I am not allowed to. I just reloaded my list of New Posts and the page I was trying to access is no longer there. It may be that they are simply being deleted and I tried to access at the wrong time, but this is another thing that usually doesn't happen, so I thought it would be good to let you know....

Okay, I found that post again and now I can access it, so it was not deleted....

Definitely faster. In fact, I've been away for a couple weeks and when I first came on the site tonight, I said to myself- "Wow! "Something seems different" :D
