i recently bought final fantasy 11 (ffxi) and playonline is a service that is required to play the game. well im having problems with the installation so heres is what ive posted on many sites please help if you can: i installed playonline logged on, purchased the content id's, and i pop in the first ffxi install disk 1, it goes to about 26% then asks for the 2nd disk, i put it in and at about 48% it gives me an error saying "data2.cab is corrupt and cannot be used, this may indicate a network error, errors reading from the cd rom drive or errors with this package". so i go get my friends disks (which he has already used to sucessfully install the game on his comp) to use for mine. so i do it and i end up gettting the same error. Well next i go to my other computer, install playonline, then when i try to install, by the 2nd disk i have teh same error. any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

I don't know much about installing online computer games, so I may be on the wrong track, but it sounds like you probably have something installed on both computers that is interfering if you can't install on either machine and with 2 different sets of disks. If you haven't done a full set of security scans, that might be a good place to start.

It is possible that it is a hardware problem, but that would probably only be true if you have the same hardware on both machines.

It would be helpful if you post more info about the systems you are working with and particularly the Windoze version....

What about your optical drives? You aren't using those 72x multi-laser drives, are you? :p
