First let me just say that I have been looking through this forum and have seen how helpful everyone is in here, im very excited to get some get of all this great advice for myself... so here is the prob...

I just upgraded my 48megs RAM to 128megs RAM. I bought a 168pin DIMM SDRAM chip to replace the 4 144pin SIMM chips I have. So after problems getting the new 128meg RAM to pass the mem test finally everything boots with no probs... well almost. The bios only boots up 32megs and no more. Why is this? I have gone through all my bios settings and have no idea where to start. I can put in my old RAM chips(but only 2, anymore and it doesnt pass the mem test) to get a max of 64megs. But I bought 128megs because I want to have 128megs. Any suggestions or help anyone can give would be super appreciated! If you need any more info from me ie.system specs, just ask and i'll provide them in a future post. Thanx again everybody and God Bless all the Americans in here.
Cheers

Would help to know which MB you have and whether it supports both Simm/Dimm?

Whyzman, thanx for taking the time to help...

I am unsure about the specs of my motherboard, I know it was manufactured by DFI, but the lack of me finding a model number anywhere doesnt allow any tech support from those guys. I just noticed that on the DIMM slot itself it has UDRAM printed on it, does this mean anything? Right now im using only my 128meg DIMM chip and only running 32megs like I said before. If this is not a compatitable chip with my MB why does it boot up at all? I wonder if it has anything to do with my Bios settings? What do you think? Thanx in advance...

Well to know for sure, you need to find the model of that board...try locating the BIOS id string...should be visible when first booting, it is a long 11+ digit number. Then there are a couple places on the web you can check it...motherboards.org (http://www.motherboards.org) and Wim's BIOS Page (http://www.ping.be/bios/).
