Recently my COM1 port got damaged and it no longer works. My modem was connected through COM1 and mouse to COM2.
I have a P/S2 Port free, so i thought i could use it for the mouse and change the modem to COM2.
Since my mouse is a serial mouse, i brought a SERIAL TO P/S2 ADAPTER, and connected the mouse to it. Still , the mouse was not detected. Is it enough to use a adapter like this or do i need to change any setting for recognizing the serial mouse as a PS2 mouse?
Please help me. Iam in a fix as i can use either the mouse or modem only and you all know, how difficult is it to browse without a mouse!

YOu can probably solve the problem by removing the old mouse drivers and installing new ones. Your old mouse drivers are probably still looking for a mouse on the COM Port.

Or if you look around you should be able to find a basic P/S2 mouse for under $10....
