HI,
I JUST INSTALLED 2-256MB PC-133 SDRAM DIMMS IN MY SYSTEM .
I HAVE AN EPOX 8KTA+2 MAINBOARD WITH A 750MHZ ATHLON CPU.
AFTER I ADDED THE RAM , I TRIED TO RUN SCANDISK AND DEFRAG
BUT GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE TELLING ME I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH
MEMORY TO RUN THESE APPLICATIONS. HOW CAN THAT BE?
Any Win9x system has difficulty with 512MB or more of memory....here (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/14967.html) is an explaination of the problem and hoe to deal with it.

I VISITED THE SITE YOU SENT ME, TRIED THE FIRST TWO SUGGESTIONS(NO LUCK),
BUT HOW DO I GET INTO MAX FILE CACHE SETTINGS TO REDUCE MAX AMOUNT
OF VCACHE? I ALSO PUT BACK MY ORIGINAL 2-128 MB PC-133 DIMMS
AND NOW I GET THAT SAME ERROR WHEN TRYING TO RUN SCANDISK,
"NOT ENOUGH AVAILABLE MEMORY", DIDN'T GET THAT MESSAGE BEFORE I
INSTALLED THAT NEW RAM. PLEASE HELP?
Ok...one other area of attack:
How big is your swapfile? Is Windows managing it?
Oh, and please try not to use all CAPS, it is the equivalent of shouting.

Sorry about the CAPS, new to this.
Swapfile, do you mean virtual memory, under performance tab in system properties? Windows is managing it.
Yep that is what I meant...Ok...hmm
Put in the new memory power up and then enter BIOS setup, don't change anything, exit saving changes, and reboot...see what happens then. If the problem persists do the same with the old memory, then try the new sticks one at a time...same thing....
