Hi guys-
OK- The subject speaks for itself. I tend to use the "disk cleanup" utility in XP often. (Just a nutcase OCD habit I guess). Mind you, I clean out stuff a lot of other ways too, including the registry etc.

I understand what the "compress old files" portion of Disk Cleanup does. (The default is 50 days before compressing un-used files)

What I don't understand is why, on this particular Computer, there is 106KB that won't compress, and won't go away in the utility.

Any ideas why? How to identify what files they are?
And last but not least, those of you using XP (NTFS), do you use "compress old files" at all, or leave it un-ticked?

I found a registry hack to disable the thing all together, but I see no harm in using the feature, when it is occasionally saving some disk space. (With the possible exception that if you access them in the future, they may take slightly longer to open- No biggie)

I believe if you un-tick the box, it would not disable the feature, but rather the "old files" to be compressed would eventually accumulate to a bloated size.
And although I haven't experimented with it, I wonder if changing the default from 50 days to say O days, would cause "new files to be compressed" popping up every day.

Man! Talk about wandering away from the original subject! WHY won't the 106kb compress or go away????? (This is the first time they weren't ALL compressed successfully since I've been using XP)
(A measly 106kb....Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill).

Think I'll go to bed....Must be the effects of the Lunar eclipse.
