When i run setup this is what i see for the harddrive:
number of cylinders: 16320
Number of heads: 16
Number of sectors: 63
Max. Capacity: 8033 MB
I did what some of you suggested after my last post. I used fdisk (win 98 startup disk) and deleted the partition, then made new primary dos partition, but i still only get 540 Mb and the system is FAT16.
What needs to be done so i can use all of the space on my HD?

When you used fdisk did you enable laarge disk support when asked?
you really should have kept this with the original thread here (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25811)

You say (in your other post) that you are using a Western Digital WD200EB hard drive. That is a 20GB drive and setup is only showing it as a max of 8033MB? Something wrong there to start, maybe a BIOS limit.
As for fdisk, why not just download the Western Digital drive utilities (http://support.wdc.com/download/#dlgtools) and partition and format with that? Much faster and much more straightforward.

I downloaded the western digital software and partitioned the harddrive using this software. At this point the HD was seen as 20GB.
Then i inserted the Win98 startup disk and had to repartition again because i got an errormessage that the partitioning was done with a 3rd party software which couldn't be used with WIN98.
After repartitioning with Win98 i currently see my HD as an 8GB. I can live with this since this PC is only used for games for the Kids.
Thanks for all the helpful reply's and links.

Did you run the WD diagnostics??? Windoze should have been able to work with the partitioning done by the WD utilities and the fact that it didn't could indicate that the drive is failing.
