Does anyone know how to remove items permanently from the systray? You know those annoying ones that install themselves and you can never get rid of them afterwards!!!
I have Windows ME
Office 2002
Thanks!:)

Most programs have options not to load on startup or to not display a system tray icon.
Those that dont can be disabled in other ways.
What programs in particular are you wanting to disable? Someone may be able to tell you where to find the option to disable loading at startup.

None of them gave that option unfortunately!!
Hutchinson History reference
Direct CD
Dell Touch Keys
Media Face (CD labelling software)
I'll have to check at home to get complete list but these are most of them!
Thanks

One way is to go to - Start > Run
Type msconfig hit enter and select the startup tab. This will show a number of programs that run at startup, find the ones you dont want and uncheck them and click apply.
Just be careful that you dont disable something you want or need to run.

Windows 2000 doesnt actually have msconfig but you can get it HERE (http://www2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Msconfig.htm) or HERE (http://www.insideproject.com/showguide.cfm?guideid=31).
