Can anyone help

I am running IE6 on Win2k - When I try to type into the Address or Search box, I manage to enter a few letters then the cursor disappears.

This does not happen in other typing areas (eg the one I am typing in now).

Any suggestions - it is really annoying. I had the problem once before and fixed it, but I just cannot remember what I did

Thanks

p.s. I have just noticed that if I pull down any of the boxes eg favourites, it stays down a few seconds then disappears. It is almost though another process is running in the background. Task manager indicates that is not the case

My first impulse would be to try a repair on it, start>contolpanel>add/remove programs and then when you click on IE6 it should give you an option to repair it.
Some of the real Gurus should be around so hang in there for more suggestions. Some more info on your system would probably help too.
Take care. LG;)

This might happen if some other program window is trying to steal focus as you are typing in IE 6,try this little registry tweak

Start Regedit

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop

Edit the key ForegroundLockTimeout

Give it a value of 00030d40

If the issue is still remains unresolved after applying the tweak, run a complete set of spyware, antivirus tests.

Please post a HijackThis (http://mjcq.com/mirror/hjt/) log...that sounds close to one of the symptoms of a fairly common hijacker.

Problem solved.

Ran Adaware & Spybot - followed by a OnTrack Fixit Registry clean up.

Missing cursor fixed, system runs like a rocket and internet speed back up.
Appreciate the reponse thank you

Glad to hear that you have solved your problem. Would you mind letting us know where was the problem precisely? Spybot & adaware found anything or the error was in the registry ?
