How can a person figure out what their password is (because they've forgat it) on an Windows XP OS? This is for a sales rep's. son (whom I do business with). The son-of-the-rep. didn't want his sister on his computer and now, himself can't get in. :)

If the Adminstrator Password was never set (not someone with Administrator rights - but the literal name Administrator) then it should be possible to logon as Adminstrator and then change any user passwords.
If there is nowhere to type in the Adminstrator name then logoff and when the logon screen re-appears press CTL+ALT+DEL which should then open up and present the dialog box.
Cracking an XP Admin password can be done and there have been other posts on this in these forums - so it could be worth searching this site.

Before you can delete or change a password you need the original.
This also goes for a user account in XP to delete the users account if it is password protected you need the password to delelte it.
Once he has access to the account again suggest to him that he makes a passowrd recovey disk, which is done from within the users accounts.

This true if you are NOT using an account with administrator rights. A user with admin rights can change any account name or password.
I lost my original Administrator account password. I simply logged on to a user account with admin rights, booted into safemode to see the original admin account and set a new password.

Beautiful!
Again, thank you very much.
I wouldn't be to hard on yourself, Ernie. Just give yourself two hours.
