Is it possible to move games that were installed under win 95B on one
hard drive to a second hard drive on the same computer with WIN 98SE.
The games are not large games but I wish to save the statistics.
The system is a pentium 233 with 256 memory two maxtor hard drives 1.6 and 20.Any help appreciated.

Thank you

James

I doubt that will work, because when a program is installed it makes entries into the Registry, and the Registry is installed on the other(boot) HD.

If you just want to keep the game statistics it is possible to make a copy of all saved data, the hard part would be finding it.

Try looking in the game folder for folders or files, containing words like user, data , save or sav - variations along those lines.

Then after installing the game on the new OS replace the backed up files to the new game install and you should have all statistics and saved games like before.

You can also look for files that have been most recently modified. Any game that you have played recently will have updated the stats recently as well and the file will have been modified. Back them up and install in the new version of Windoze... Also, if the game is a standalone type of game, you can copy the whole thing and move it. If it used an installer, it is less likely to be standalone....
