Hello all, I have a very bad problem. I hate having spyware on my computer and everytime I see a peice of spyware on my comp I move real quick to get rid of it. I have spybot search and destroy which has been working really well to keep me on top of the spyware destruction. Lately however, there are two pieces of spyware that have gotten into my registry and I can't get rid of them. One is called Newdot.dll and another is some kind of comet cursor. I delete them in spybot but every time i boot up, they show right back up. Likewise, when I run spybot it cannot get rid of all of the newdot files since they are being used somewher else on my system. Can someone please tell me a method or a program to get rid of these two files? Thank you soo mcuh.

You probably have a hijacker program that is reinstalling them. Make sure you are running Spybot with the latest updates and you might also want to go to mjc's security thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15179) for the link to HijackThis, run it and copy/paste the log here for the experts (not me) to look at.

First New.net should have an entry in Add/Remove programs...use it!!
Close all browser windows, then in HijackThis check off the boxes next to the following and then the Fix button....
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DM_Server] C:\PROGRA~1\COMETS~1\DM\bin\dmserver.exe /onreboot
Then reboot and delete the following.....
(files)
C:\PROGRA~1\COMETS~1\DM\bin\dmserver.exe
(folders)
C:\PROGRA~1\COMETS~1\ <==That should be CometSystems? if it is anything else hoe of on deleteing that file, but rename it instead...also zip it up and send me a copy to here (submissions@mjc1.com), please.
Then post a followup log........

Go here for the official Newdotnet uninstall procedure...and another uninstaller. Removing by any other method could leave you with broken internet access.
