What if I wanted to change the name of oine of my hard drive partition and what if I wanted to create a new partition? I am new to XP, what commands will lead me to that path?

Changing a drive/partiton name is easy.
In windows explorer or 'My Computer' right-click on the partition you want to rename and select properties then its just a matter of changing the text in the box next to where it says 'Label'.
I don't know what happened but while partitioning a 20 GB drive, C is the primary (7 GB), D is the Logical one (about 7GB) and the extended one which is also 7 GB is nowhere to be found? So now...in XP, I see only 14 GB available on the drive, what happened to the other 6 GB?

Try going to Start > Run
type in diskmgmt.msc
This should show a list of partitions on the drive including any that may be unformatted.
If you see the missing partiton you can right click on it and select format if it is unformatted.
It worked......thank you so much !
