I am trying to figure out what does the letter in the GHz speed stand for? An example: 2.60C GHz/ 800MHz FSB. I assume this is some sort of revision since I have seen A,B and C in other speeds. thanks!

Someone else can confirm but I think a B refers to a 533MHz FSB - so presumabley a C refers to 800MHz FSB. ??

There is also the new "D" or maybe it's "EE" for the Extreme Edition.

'A' designator:
This letter designator identifies Pentium 4 processors with 512KB full speed L2 Advanced Transfer Cache. For example, the Pentium 4 processor at 2 GHz has 256KB L2 cache while the Pentium 4 processor at 2A GHz has 512KB L2 cache.
'B' designator:
This letter designator identifies Pentium 4 processors that support a 533 MHz front side bus speed. For example, the Pentium 4 processor at 2.40 GHz supports a 400 MHz bus speed and the Pentium 4 processor at 2.40B GHz supports a 533 MHz bus speed.
'C' designator:
This letter designator identifies PentiumŪ 4 processors that support Hyper-Threading Technology and an 800 MHz front side bus. For example, the PentiumŪ 4 processor at 2.40C GHz supports an 800 MHz front side bus and Hyper-Threading Technology.
Ghz - stands for giga hertz..
FSB- front side bus.. this refers to the speed of the mother boards...

I doubt you'll see one anymore, but...
The "original" P4 was the one without a letter. 256KB of L2 cache. That was the Willamette core. 400MHz FSB, 0.18 micron process. That thing ran hot!! Only went up to 2GHz. Both Socket 423 and Socket 478. It carries the distinction of being the only processor to ever grace the doomed Socket 423 design. Ah, memories... :p
