I am trying to help a friend restore his PC problem
due to not able to boot.
On power on the screen will show packard logo
with the function keys f1 and f2. After a couple of
seconds the screen shows HDD error and to run setup.

The problems lies on the fact that it won,t boot to
A drive. I had checked bios and the ist boot is
floppy drive.

But the floppy light does'nt bright up as it usually
does during boot up. The cdrom lights lighted up.

I tried setting bios to boot from c drive also
no go. I autodetect HDD in bios and it did detect.
I had checked the ribbon cable to be OK.

Please help

Check the power cable and the ribbon cable on the floppy drive.

Try replacing the ribbon cable for the floppy

Try replacing the floppy.

I had changed the floppy and ribbon cable.
the power cable is firmly attached to floppy drive.
Still no light.

One thing funny that you should know.
This packard hell machine when i changed
the sdram it says sytem boot problem and wanted
me to insert the setup restore diskette. I did
and it detected the floppy. The setup did not complete
because it says there is no fixed disk present.

True enough when i went to bios no ide drive is
detected eventhough i tried auto detect.

But when i changed back to the actual packard
ram the same old prompt that says HDD error
and to run setup is displayed. I went to bios
to detect HDD and it detect it which it was not
able to detect when using a different ram.

But even with HDD detected it still wont boot to
floppy.I tried also to set all drives to auto as
it was originally was still no go.
