display driver on windows me not working, resolution of my screen is terrible

I've tried to cure the problem by re-installing me, but too no avail the problem is still persisting, i've also ran norton on the system, it detected no viruses, i've also checked the drivers in device manager it says that there's no problem with them, i'm now out of ideas so any help would be appreciated

Obvious question first, did you try to change the resolution from the default one it gives you upon first boot? If so you need to go and download some drivers (or get them off any CD that came with your system) for your video card. Windows ME is simply a mess of an operating system so this kind of thing really doesn't suprise me.

Check your drivers in Davice Manager from Safe Mode to see if you have any ghost drivers. If you reinstalled WinME without wiping the drive first, it is even more likely that you may have extra drivers messing up your screen.

WinME can be made to behave quite well if you tweak it a bit and turn off most of the programs that run at boot...
