Since we are starting to get more HijackThis/nasty spyware related topics I thought is was time for another of my "sticky posts"
What follows is a list of "required" reading material....:D
First of since one of the most prevalent sources of nasty stuff is CWS...
CoolWebSearch Chronicles (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html)
Then for an overall view of what is out there....
Andrew's list contains descriptions and removal instructions for a large number of parasites...
and.doxdesk:Parasites (http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/)
Another source of info on many is...
http://www.cexx.org/
There are also some searchable databases around
Crapware (http://www.s89223352.onlinehome.us/tinc?key=AbZ0JojL&formname=crapware)
SpywareGuide (http://www.spywareguide.com/product_search.php)
Some other useful tools.....
BHOList (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/beta/bholist.zip) This is a front end for easily searching these two lists All known BHOs (http://www.spywareinfo.com/bhos/) and All Known Toolbar CLSIDs (http://www.spywareinfo.com/toolbars/)
The startup list also has a downloadable, searchable version...
Startups.exe (http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/start_ups.exe)
There is more info around, and I'll be adding to this one, but this is enough to get any budding counter gackware agent going.....
