My internet is slow, any suggestions?

I am trying to de-bug my computer and make sure its clean so I can cross out that problem. So far I found a worm which I think I got rid of. My internet is still slow though. It takes a long time to receive new mail, in the past it would receive new mail as soon as I opened the email thing. Also, online games are unplayable.

I phoned Shaw, who we get cable from and they gave me a test I could do on the computer. Our internet connection passed the test, but things are still slow. Any ideas where the problem could be coming from?

Whats the spec of your machine?

Could just be Windows being Windows...or some sort of Hardware fault.

Give us your machine spec....coz you might have to raise this on the core hardware board.

If you had one worm you could have other crud floating around your system.
If you havent already, you should also run Ad-Aware and SpyBot.

You can also run HijackThis and post the log here for examination.

The problem was atually my router was messed up. The guy told me to unplug and plug it back in, and that fixed it. 3 weeks of a sick machine and thats all I had to do.
