Was reading this TechTV Article (http://www.techtv.com/callforhelp/catsclicks/story/0,24330,3587785,00.html) about International Statistics and thought I might share it.
Their link to the site http://nationmaster.com/ has some pretty amazing stuff if you get tired of worrying about Computer problems and want to take a break.
Some of the "Top Graphs" and categories on the left side are very interesting. Further exploration shows the site to have a wealth of interesting (or useless) information depending on how you look at it.
OK....As you were. :p

47.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot.:D

Interesting pave_spectre!
Seems to coincide with what I read.....99.9% of all people who see Stats, question their validity, and wonder who actually came up with these "facts".
Or was it 54.5% that question them, and 99.9% that should? Can't remember now. :D
(Edit) Here's one that looks pretty close though. (http://nationmaster.com/graph-T/mil_con_arm_exp) :p

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics. :D

Lots of unusual stats to be found here. Some of the numbers are skewed alot by low populations but the results can be very funny. The next time someone complains to me about the taxes they pay I'm going to point out the rates in the Vatican City.

Pretty amazing site indeed. It's still very young, too.
Thanks for that link, jabarnutcase.
It's getting better and better ; some of those links posted here are fascinating.
NationMaster Gets All Introspective - Monday 2nd June 2003
We've been been bringing you the figures of the world for two weeks now. So it's about time we started reporting on ourselves too! You can now view site usage stats just as you do any other country data. Who's using the site? Surprisingly enough, the top 4 countries per capita are not English-speaking! We have really struck a chord with Icelanders, who have used the site 10 times as much as the British. But it's early days. It's interesting to watch a whole lot of links spring up in a country after their major portal has featured us.

This is no doubt going to be a new hobby with some people.
And why shouldn't it ? It's as least as interesting and informative as most other hobbies.

And if I may offer an other one which maybe goes nicely together with your link, jabarnutcase...
(taratataaaaa.mp3) :)
For the historically-politically enclined :
http://www.rulers.org/index.html
This site contains lists of heads of state and heads of government (and, in certain cases, de facto leaders not occupying either of those formal positions) of all countries and territories, going back to about 1700 in most cases. Also included are the subdivisions of various countries (the links are at the bottom of the respective country entries), as well as a selection of international organizations. Recent foreign ministers of all countries are listed separately.
