After several frustrated atempts to install Windows 98
Second Edition from the CD,I´ve spend all night extracting
the CAB files that I´ve previously copy to my HD. Then i was
able to complete the installation from the HD.
But later i noticed that somthing was wrong
The icon of the "C:" unit have transformed to a CD, and now is
a sheet, like if it was a file. That`s not all. When i try to open it
a message tells me that the system could not find the file needed to
open the kind of file i`m tryng to execute. I see my self forced to open it whit the option in the pop up menu.
I also got problems in two of three boots, because i can`t execute a single thing whitout a message appears to me sayin that "EXPLORER have caused an error in the USER module..."
Any idea of what is happenning and/or what can i do?

Que bueno que apprendi hablar un poco de espanol. Perdoname porque no se escribir muy bien. Primero, tienes alguna razon por no borrar el disco duro y empezar de nuevo? Segundo, has tratado a executar el scandisk? Este application a veces puede resolver algunas problemas como este. Si falla todo agare un palo bien grande y pega el triste computadora como si fuera una pinata y busca una nueva.

For all that don't speak Espanol I said to consider reformatting the harddrive and starting over if you have files that are very important then try running scan disk and see if there are any corrupted files, they may be causing a problem, if all else fails beat the heck out of the computer and buy a new one.

Make sure the cd is ok, scratches and stuff. Check and see if you can use another cdrom too, might be a defective cdrom. Also when your reformatting make sure antivirus in the bios is disabled. I would do what cat said and reformat definately.

Thank you both. You got a pretty good spanish Cat, it was a
very linda sorpresa to see that kinda post in this forum.
But about your recomendations, I`ve already done it several times.
I`m beggining to think that Diurnal is right about my copy of W98
(yes, the disk is a little scratched indeed). So I`ll have to try with a different one.
I´ll post back to tell you the results.
Thanks again.
Adios, amigos.
