I have a Toshiba Laptop 2550 XCDS, I turned it on for the first time in a few months and the display or LCD screen appears faded or dim and cannot be read unless at an angle. Why did this all of a sudden change to a dimmed screen and what can I do?

Hello Purtyfilly,

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

I'm not familiar with this laptop, but most have the ability to adjust the contrast and brightness...have you attempted to adjust??

Also, is it plugged in so it is fully powered??

Yes, this is fully charged and plugged in when I have tried to use the laptop. There is no visible display adjustments on the laptop itself.
I tried going into the display icon in the control panel but there is nothing there.

May seem too obvious but my wife has a Toshiba laptop and there is a contrast thumb wheel on the side of the monitor. Just a shot in the dark.

You can go to the Toshiba website and get the manual or other info to find the screen controls. They are usually on the side or behind the keyboard on the top...

Thanks for all your advice. I feel so stupid, the adjustment WAS right there on the side of the monitor, it was so small I missed it!!
Thanks again for all your help!!
