I'm getting all kinds of port scans from a wide range of IPs...I haven't heard anything new in the last few days, but is there something new out there I'm not aware of, virus-wise?

Funny you say that. We were talking in the chat the other night and I was saying I had NOT been hit in quite a while. Easily over 12 hours without a single incoming. HMMMMM http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Please let us know if what we suggest helps. This helps us help you better.

Mine too is showing no hits at all this morning so far. Last week I was actually worried about that...after WAY more hits than normal, it dropped to nada. Was worried that ZA wasn't working, but passed the test so guess it is.

Agree with Steve; these people need to get a life. Have thought recently that some of the creators must be single, unemployed, and don't need sleep. Either that, or it's much easier to write a program than I thought.

Over the past few days I have hardly had any hits at-all.
When on line this morning (Sat) I recieved no hits what so ever. Came of line and went out for the day leaving comp running. Got home tonight to find that scheduled AVG scan had picked up a virus. Got AVG to isolate it then deleted it. When I checked to find out detail at PC-Cillin no record foound. Virus details as follows:
I-Worm/NIMDA.A.HTM
this was in WINDOWS\Local Settings\Temp. So I deleted ALL files in that folder as well.

ZoneAlarm logs a "hit" about every 10 minutes on my system and ZoneLog says many are scans to see if my system has a Trojan or someone is trying to plant one...and this is on a dialup connection.

dial-up connections are easier usually, because many who use them do not have a firewall, and if you can infect 1000 dial up computers to do anything at one time.. or at least allot of them... you have POWER.

lol

Reid- scan them back!!!

Don't know about any one else but i have a real serious problem with zone alarm. I had the free home use for a while then got a free trial of pro which I (like) then that ran out went back to the free home once again and know the darn thing keeps interfering with NAV .kept getting nav pop ups and going into safe mode, could not do a system restore to get out of going into safe mode. so droped NAV and reinstalled so far so good, but can't get zone alarm off computer completly unless i do a total registry rework now somthing in my puter that i can't delete with out doing total registry I definatly have a problem with. IMHO! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif It's like if you don't buy it their going to make sure that it's going to be a pain to get rid of it.i'm not really looking forward going thru the registry not knowing what else they have attatched to like other program files that i need. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Hi All!
Sorry to but in on this one.But reading these posts has got me concerned.
I've been running ZA pro since march.I get quite a lot of alerts.I'm now worried if I've got it set right, I just installed and run it is this safe or do I need to tick every box in sight I'm on a dial up network.
thanks,
kfh.

as long as you don't have AOL, keep your security settings at HIGHEST, only allow things that you need to auto connect, and nothing set to "Pass Lock".

I start wondering what is up when I don't get any hits on ZA...it blocks everything, that means actual attempts by a person to gain access, trojans like nimda that try to hit everything, servers that don't realize you've left, and all the stray signals that float around the net...that said it has been pretty quiet in my neck of the woods lately. And if you don't like the popup alerts, then turn off the popup -- alerts tab, uncheck the "Show the alert popup window" box.

I'm lost. I use ZA too, where do you see how many "hits" you're getting?

in the "Alerts TAB", at the bottom you can check to see a pop-up notification to advise you of when ZA has blocked something.

Thanks Sea,
I kinda thought that's what you guys were talking about. I can't remember the last time I've seen anything there.

Hey Yoda, I had a problem with ZA too and went back to Norton. I know a lot of y'all like ZA but I found it to be a little more of a pain.
