unusual disconnection

I am puzzled - have been looking at this celeron 433 machine- with win2000, . The dial up connects and starts downl for a time ie 20 minutes/ but when you open another window she disconnects. Or try downl mail from ie 6 and express 6 . Same thing happens. I have been through the correct settings. Line issues. Tried int and ext modems. Would there be a issue with 2000 dial ! :confused:

My first thought is that maybe you have additional (probably unused) dial up connections. When you open IE or Outlook, they are trying to connect using a different dial up connection? Check that there is only one dial up connection & that OE & IE are both configured to use it as their default.

please first open the IE the ..click file..check it has ticked work for offline..if yes then check that out ..otherwise open..IE type webaddress then connect to internet ..this will make u work safe..

Here's a thought.

MS IE - Go to your dial-up properties and make sure the box, "disconnect after idle" is not checked.

MS OE - When checking for email, there is a box that asks "Hang up connection after complete" (Or something like that).
