Incompatibility issue

I read on one of the Usenet newsgroups(maybe alt.Computer)that the Norton Ghost program is incompatible with Partition Magic.

Is this true? I ask because if so, I will then cancel the order I placed for the PM.

Did they specify a version?

I know the college I attend uses Ghost and PM without hassle though they also use ranish instead of PM sometimes.

No, a version wasn't indicated and the person who posted didn't say why they would be incompatible anyway. So who knows, maybe some false rumor?

Incompatibilities can exist with differing versions of said programs...and differing file systems.

There was a round of them right after XP came out with versions that didn't quite work with the XP revision of NTFS files system. Chances are the if you are getting PM 8 and have a recent version of Ghost, you should have no problems......

BTW, i can't see Symantec buying PM if there was a major problem with the software....

Well, I just went ahead adding another partition to my drive to which I backed up a Norton Ghost image of the logical drive on which I have XP and there was NO PROBLEM!

So much for that alleged incompatibility I reported on previously.

Like I alluded to in my previous post...I think the information was correct about 2 years ago......
