Um....uh....
I knew that AMD chips were "hot"...but that is a little ridiculous! You are starting to get very close to the point where things (other than the processor) can actually start burning.

Wish i could download it but 9mb. I would have to leave cpu on all night.
One thing i learned is as long as you have the heatsink touching the core of the cpu, it will not blow that fast, in other words you could take the fan off, but not the heatsink and youll have a lot of time before it blows.
I always thought if the fan isnt on then it will blow but its the heatsinks that take the heat and dissipate.

LOL After watching that i made a copy to give to a local shop old PC " tech " http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif who didn't understand why HSF's are so important on today's CPU's ( and vid cards ).
Needless to say he has become a convert. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Told him that CPU"s today are quite a bit different than the old Pentuim's we use to use.

Sorry yo hear you can’t download the file.
It shows 4 cpu’s cookoff. 2 Intel and 2 amd
the two amd chips cook and I do mean cook.
The 1.4 burns up in 14 seconds. 370c/698 F
The 1.2 does about the same in 14 seconds 298c /568F
I don’t think that at these temps the cpu would last too long with just the heat-sink and no fan
The intel chips went into shutdown or reduced speed modes 100F

I do not know about all of that, but I do know when my cpu fan went out it was not very long{short time} my 1 gig amd went fast. Now I keep close watch on temp. and listen for the fan. Yes if it can happen it will happen to me and me knows not why, I guess it is because one day I will be a pro too Thanks Andy
