This really isn't a glitch I don't think. About 3 mounths ago or so I noticed that about half the time that I try to enter an adress in the address bar when on the MSN home page, the typing switches to the search bar instead. If I use the mouse and click on the address bar again it types normally and stays in place.
I am assuming this came about after one of the MS Updates I downloaded. I suppose it could have to do with the MSN Hompage instead of XP but it doesn't happen on my w2k system. I am getting pretty annoyed with it. Has anyone else experienced this and know how to stop it?

Anything bizarre happening with search engines should put malware onto one's suspicion list. You can try IE > Tools > Internet Options > Programs and click on "Reset Web Settings" but I would also be inclined to check for spyware and post a log of "HijackThis" to be on the safe side.

I know what you're talking about. You have msn.com as your homepage. As the page is loading, you start to type something into the address bar (before the page has finished loading). When the page finishes loading, the cursor automatically moves to the search bar. This isn't a glitch, or due to spyware, etc. It happens on all search engines. As soon as the page finishes loading, the cursor automatically moves to the search box. There may be a way to change this, but I doubt it. My suggestion is be patient, and wait for the page to load before typing in a new address. Or, change the home page to blank in the internet options.

This is not just when the page is loading and it never, ever happened until about three months ago. Also, not just the cursor but everything I've typed moves to the search bar. I think it is something besides that.

Try scanning for spyware with Adaware or Spybot or HJT: here (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15179)
