I am getting really frustrated here. My computer keeps giving me fatal exception errors or unwanted reboots when I burn cds. Once I got an unwanted reboot also while surfing the net but the system was able to get back to normality alone. What happens is that the screen goes black (as per sleep mode) and then everything freezes. Yesterday I formattted and reinstalled win98se and i was able to transfer succesfully a folder from the HD to the CD-RW twice but then late at night, repeating the process to test I got again rspontaneous reboot. I was thinking what i did in beteween these attempts and realized I installed Noton Utilities 2002. I think i will try to uninstall the Norton thing to see if the problem is caused by Norton. The power supply is new and 400W. The data cable should be ok since movies on dvd play fine. I don`t know what to do!

Some system info might be helpful...What's also running in the background, how much RAM etc.?
The OEs are oft times memory related.

Fatal exception, as you probably know is where hardware or software sends a message to windows that it cannot handle. Something in your pc is not compatible. Take out stuff until it goes away, process of elimination. Sorry

It sounds to me like the temperature of your system is generating troubles. In my personal experience I`ve noticed that the Acer disp. gets hotter than normal. It´s a shoot in the dark, but...
Good Look

so, a technician from Matrox told me that could be a problem with older VIA drivers and Matrox drivers. I`ll update them and see if i can fix the problem.
