I got a new desktop case and it's beautiful, but i don't know how to PROPERLY instally the temp monitor so i can see the CPU temperature that is displayed on my Aspire X-Dreamer II case. Right now i'm running at....."-51F" and while i would LOVE that to be true, i know it's not. Oh by the way it's just a wire with a small metal piece at the end. As of now it's kind of jammed between the heat sink and the edge of the processor but i'm afraid that might cause problems.

Does anyone know a good tool that could tell me the processor temp since my bios doesn't show it? My motherboard's a MSI MS-6507E

Thanx for the help.

Download MBM ( Mother Board Monitor )
It can read and display your onboard temps

The Probe you have now can be used in a number of ways.
I prefer to use the probe for system temps and leave the true CPU and M/B temps to the MBM and or bios

If you want to use it for the heatsink temps
Their are a number of sites where they show how to place it under the cpu.
Others use them inside the heatsink by drilling a small hole in the base of the heatsink and placing the probe into it

Trust me i tried extensivly searching only but couldn't find any guides on how to. Thanks for the help and keep the suggestions coming. IF it's possible i'd like to monitor the core cpu temp with the suppliesd sensor.

I am pretty sure the CORE CPU temp can only be monitored through the built-in sensor... You can rig the external sensor you have to get a reasonable approximation of the CPU temp, but you will get more accurate numbers from the internal sensors....

so if i put it on the side of the cpu/heatsink what should i use to keep it there?

I have generally heard of people putting it between the heatsink and CPU, but it is crucial that you do this very carefully (if you insist on doing it at all) so that you don't destroy the CPU. It also has to be the type of sensor that is designed to be used that way...

I wouldn't even try this without a visual guide for how to do it... Have you looked on the manufacturer's website to see if they have a tutorial??

Have you tried MBM5 or some other monitoring software??
