Hi,
I can't get on to the internet...
Here's my setup.
Cable DSL
i have a desktop(XP) that's wired to a LINKSYS router. The laptop(XP) using a wireless card has no problem connecting. But I have another desktop with ME that can't connect, using LINKSYS WMP11. It can pick up a signal, but I can't connect to the internet. I set it up using the infrastructure type instead of the adhoc

Is the ME machine receiving an IP address? Can you ping any of the other machines or the router? Need to find out if its a sharing issue or a general network connection issue.

ipconfig

0 Ethernet adapter:
IP ADDRESS 192.168.1.102
Subet Mask... 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway...192.168.1.1

1 Ethernet adapter:

IP ADDRESS 0.0.0.0
Subet Mask 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway

Why are there two?
The default gateway address is the address of my router?
If it is, I can't connect to it.

The default gateway should be the router IP, if it is good.

The problem is likely the fact that you seem to have two ethernet adaptors. Unless you configure routing(unneeded here and often overkill anyway) windows has a habit of using the wrong ethernet interface to try and establish anetwork connection. Or else it just gets confused and doesnt use either of them.

On the desktop right click on the netwok icon and select properties.

If there are more than one network connection and you can identify which is the one that belongs to
1 Ethernet adapter:

IP ADDRESS 0.0.0.0
Subet Mask 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway

disable that one and try connecting again. If there arent two connections you may want to look in device manager, and check for multiple devices. then post back.

Hi,
I installed XP and reinstalled the wireless software and it worked. Maybe I didn't know how to configure it for win98. But if you know the solution, I would like to learn how to configure the wireless besides for xp, since it basically does it by itself. Thanks

I think the problem with the ME machine may have been the fact that it thought there were two active ethernet connections. Without knowing why it thought that, I couldnt guess what the underlying problem may have been.
