Hello again, am having probs with IRQ conflicts... I have supposedly reassigned some of the conflicting devices in the bois, however this does not show up in my system information folder.
I am running a Gigabyte GA-7ZM motherboard and 2k pro. according to my system info my IRQs are assigned thus
1 = keyboard, 3 = com' port 2, 4 = com port 1, 6 = floppy, 8 = CMOS, 9 = Rage pro AGP graphics card, 9 = Via USb Universal host controller, 9 = Via USb Universal host controller, 9 = Via PCI Audio controller (WDM), 9 = Texas intruments OHCI firewire card, 9 = LT modem, 11 = Microsoft ACPI compliant system, 12 = mouse, 13 = Numeric data processor, 14 = Primary IDE channel, 15 = Secondary IDE channel.
I supposedly reassigned PCI slots [in bios] to: PCI slot 1 [sparkle s3 graphics card for 2nd monitor] = irq 5, PCI slot 2 [firewire card]= irq 4, PCI slot 3 [modem] = irq 3. however even after having done this [I had the reset config data "yes" thing set to remember the changes, I still came up with the above settings in system info.
according to bios boot up screen my PCI devices are:
Onboard Multimedia Device - IRQ 10
Onboard IDE - IRQ 14,15
Onboard USB controller - IRQ 9
Onboard USB controller - IRQ 9
Slot 1 VGA - IRQ 5
Slot 2 Firewire Controller - IRQ 10
Slot 3 Communication Device - IRQ 9
AGP VGA - IRQ 11

Obviously I have a lot of stuff on IRQ 9 but how the hell do I actually reassign these things so that I don't have a conflict. I like to use my second monitor as it has space for tools etc... I am at a loss with this... I can see where the problem is adn would have thought that 2k pro would have intelligently assigned these things so that there is no conflict and so that the devices would actually work...?

I do have the gigabyte driver update that I got for 98 SE but have not run them just in case they are not for 2k pro...? and because I was told 2k pro had all the drivers that I needed.
I seem to have a lot of USB bits, but only have a Visioneer 4400 USB scanner [not working and waiting for reply from visioneer] and an epson stylus colour 680 [working but not recognised as a USB device in device manager] ...
why is nothing ever simple? anybody have any ideas how I can make my computer user friendly or should I go back to collages?
thanks in advance any and or all
