I have a question about Outlook Express. I have 2 users at work that I have set up with Outlook Express. Both are configured to receive emails from the same email address. Here's the problem. Whoever checks their email first gets the email messages. The other person won't see them too. I want both people to be able to see all the messages sent to that address. Anyway I can do that? The email address is originating from Microsoft Exchange 2000 if that helps.

This site is for personal PCs, not commercial. You mean you have a "friend" that is having problems with OE?

The Receive SetUp for POP3 can be configured to leave messages on the server. You would also have to set the messages to be deleted from the server after a set period of time; a period that would have allowed both users to have downloaded their mails first. Alternatively never delete the messages from the server until done manually by a third account.

PrntRhd,

I am not sure how that story got started, but I am pretty sure it is not true.... I have seen lots of posts here for people asking for help with work computers and I have never seen a complaint about it. I don't want to hijack this thread so I will begin another thread about the subject.

cronus1914,

I think you just have to set the Options in OE to leave the message on the server, but then you will have to go in periodically and clear the server so you don't use up your space... Someone who knows more about OE will be by to say if there is an easier way....

It also occurs that if the messages are left on the server ("permanently") and that if there is also webmail access that the webmail route could be used to clear the messages from the server when necessary.

Two other methods would be (1) to use another mail client such as popcorn or foxmail or outlook (that have a "Remote" Facility) which could then be used to delete the messages on the server as required or (2) setup another mail account in OE but with the setting set to allow deletion from the server but only access this when necessary; (this is a messy way IMO and would require the messages to actually be downloaded yet again).

By the way the settings are to be found at:-
Tools | Accounts | Mail | The Selected Account | Advanced Tab
